Rooting for ProTrim
Rx

It seems many people are spending
a lot of time these days trying to adapt to change, or the threat of change.
The need for being ever-vigilant for what may come keeps our minds chattering
and our bodies stressed. Certainly, our lifestyle of racing from one event
to the other requires us to be flexible and adaptable.
One of the best herbs for these situations is ginseng (and specifically
“Siberian ginseng”), which is found in Peoplesway’s ProTrim Rx. The therapeutic
part used is the mild, non-toxic, medicinal root of the plant in the class
of herbs called “adaptogens.” Adaptogens act as tonics to the body, or
more simply defined as supportive agents for increasing physical endurance
and achieving better mental alertness.
Much of the research on ginseng comes from Russia. In the 1950’s, a Russian
doctor showed the positive effects of ginseng by studying soldiers during
exercise. He found that soldiers who consumed ginseng prior to exercise
performed much better than those who did not.
There are a variety of ginsengs. Roots of plants that are “air-dried”
tend to be milder (yin-tonic) than those that are steam-treated, which
are more energizing (yang-tonic). Siberian ginseng falls into the milder
category, while Panax ginseng has the stronger effect.
As with the other botanical medicines found in ProTrim Rx, ginseng has
benefits for many conditions. As an adaptogen, ginseng helps to balance
excess while it lifts a deficiency. It can improve memory, while it helps
relieve the stress that can cause the memory loss. By supporting the adrenal
glands, harmful effects on the body can be reduced. Consequently, cardiovascular
benefits have been seen, symptoms of cancer have been improved, blood
sugar levels in diabetes have dropped, and physical vitality and sexual
performance can change. The variety of active compounds in ginseng is
what makes it so versatile. The results of extensive studies have supported
its effects on the central nervous system (memory, learning, and behavior),
carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, immune function, and the cardiovascular
system.
Most people use Siberian ginseng to relieve symptoms of fatigue, to boost
immune function, recover from stress, and strengthen the digestion and
kidneys. Clinically, it has shown positive effects for fibromyalgia, chronic
fatigue syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes. Less common, but
still beneficial is its use for bipolar disorder, depression, multiple
sclerosis, HIV, and colds and flu.
Eleutherococcus (it’s Latin name) also supports the body in helping the
liver detoxify harmful toxins. It has shown a protective action against
alcohol use and chemotherapy or radiation therapy. It also has constituents
that act as a natural diuretic and an anti-inflammatory.
Side effects are minimal, but if taken too close to bedtime, it may cause
insomnia. It is not recommended for people with uncontrolled high blood
pressure (over 180/90). Most references say that Siberian ginseng can
be used during pregnancy, whereas, its relative, Panax ginseng, should
not be. It does have blood-thinning properties, so monitor use with Warfarin
or Coumadin. Siberian ginseng can also lower blood glucose so monitor
those levels, as well.
ProTrim Rx offers us multiple health benefits this time of year. Besides
the powerful weight loss benefits we find from its use, we can also expect
the Siberian ginseng root to increase general resistance to environmental
and situational stress, help keep our immune system strong, increase our
physical endurance, and keep us mentally alert. That seems like a lot
to ask from one little root; it is but one more example of the amazing
healing powers of Nature we find in Peoplesway’s ProTrim Rx.
