The Benefits of ProTec’s Grape Seed Extract:

Increased Blood Flow, Less Pain

An important ingredient in ProTec is its grape seed extract, since feeling good and staying fit requires good blood circulation. Orally, from 75 to 300 mg a day, grape seed extract treats circulatory disorders, strengthening capillaries, and decreasing inflammation. It is also vital to the health of red blood cells and helps supports connective tissues that involve the skin, organs, and joints. Its value is found in its significant amounts of essential fatty acid oils (EFAs), tocopherols (Vitamin E), and procyanidin content.

As a nutrient called “bioflavonoid,” grape seed extract is especially essential for the health of the vascular system. Bioflavonoids are basically “Vitamin C helpers.” Both act as antioxidants, but each has roles independent of each other. Vitamin C is needed to produce the connective tissue protein called collagen. But, if the Vitamin C is destroyed before it can be used, which often it is, then it is of little benefit. By adding bioflavonoids to the diet with ProTec, the life of Vitamin C is protected and expanded.

The proanthocyanidins (also called OPCs for oligomeric procyanidins) contained in the grape seed extract of ProTec is the active ingredient that “scavenges” the reactive oxygen molecules (free radicals) that contribute to aging and vascular injury of arteries, veins, and tiny capillaries. Since all size vessels are benefited, conditions such as those associated to venous insufficiency (varicose veins), ocular concerns (macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy), and arteriosclerosis (from chronic high cholesterol and hypertension) can be helped.

According to the Journal of the American Botanical Council, “Chronic degenerative diseases are believed to be a result of environmental assaults, whose harmful effects may be helped by nutrients such as procyanidins.”

Clinical trials conducted on the therapeutic effects of grape seed extract have produced positive results for reducing pain, cramps, edema, and paresthesia (tingling pins and needles sensation) while improving venous function. Research has shown that OPCs strengthen capillaries using as little as 100 mg a day. And, with 200 mg a day for five weeks, studies have shown that night vision improves, due to better retinal nutrition from improved capillary circulation. Abnormal blood clotting in smokers has been shown to be prevented and reversed, as well.

With increased circulation, healthy skin can be maintained, stroke prevention is supported and arthritis can be helped. Better circulation results in better heart health, as well. When circulation increases, inflammation can be decreased resulting in the relief of muscle soreness, pain, and edema. As an added “bonus,” better circulation helps deliver other nutrients, such as those in ProTrim Rx, to the target areas to help produce the expected beneficial results.

Sufficient dosing information is unavailable at this time for those pregnant or nursing. The flavonoid nutrients in grape seed extract are, however, water-soluble, meaning excess intake beyond need is excreted in the urine and not retained in tissue.

No harmful interactions with food or other dietary supplements are known, nor reason to suspect lab tests will be altered upon taking this nutrient. No complications with medical conditions are expected, as well.

There is a possible interaction with the drug, warfarin, however. Warfarin use with grape seed extract may increase warfarin’s effects and the risk of bleeding. This interaction is due to the Vitamin E content of grape seed. Additional supplementation with Vitamin E will enhance this process, as well.
